Not Sure Which Method to Use to Clean Your Carpets?

Not Sure Which Method to Use to Clean Your Carpets?

What Are the Most Common Carpet Cleaner Methods

One of the most common carpet cleaners is a steam cleaner. This uses a combination of hot water and a carpet cleaner solution and will emit steam particles onto a carpet. Brushes and hose attachments are then used to loosen dirt and remove all the soiled particles. Often referred to as a steam vac, there are various priced models of this cleaner on sale today, although most people prefer to rent one when needed.

Carpet shampoo is also a common option. With this method, the carpet shampoo will be applied to the carpet either by hand or with a machine, it is then scrubbed to remove dirt particles from the carpet’s fibers. There are various different types of shampoos available, ranging from ecologically sound to standard cleaners or special formulas that are specifically made to target mold, mildew, pet odors etc. Generally, they do not need vacuuming up or to be removed after scrubbing and left to dry overnight, however, each brand is different.

Another option is to hire a professional carpet cleaner. They will often use any of the aforementioned methods, or use technologies that are only available to them. Carpet cleaning companies will often use special techniques that were developed by professionals, that have benefits such as a quicker drying time, less chemicals or just a cleaner carpet. Despite the cost, some people prefer this option due to time or physical constraints.

Ecological methods which were common decades ago are now being rediscovered. The increasing demand for “greener” products, in addition to frugality, have driven some people to create their own cleaning solutions using everyday household products such as vinegar and baking soda. And even though this has yet to be verified whether these methods are ecologically safe, or even effective, homemade cleaning solutions are but one of the many carpet cleaners people use.
